Explore the Incredible World of An Iguana Named Lana

An Iguana Named Lana would like to extend a warm invitation to her readers to explore the strange and wonderful world of the Galapagos Islands. Lana lives in a fascinating land where exotic creatures frolic in the ocean, on land, and in the sky. Her friends are each unique and special to these islands they call home.

It’s Lana’s desire for her readers to learn about the Galapagos and to appreciate just how truly special this amazing place is. Also she hopes that perhaps one day, her new friends will come to explore, even if only in their minds.

Lana and Her Friends

The concept of An Iguana Named Lana came during a family vacation to the incredible Galapagos Islands. During our visit, we saw loads of fascinating creatures and experienced so many memorable experiences.

We were able to see these animals in their natural habitat, where they had little or no fear of humans.

From being able to swim with sea lions and sharks, to going eyeball to eyeball with a curious Bluefoot Booby, the experiences were spectacular. In fact, they were so spectacular that it seemed important to share.

As you can see, Lana was delighted to pose for the camera.

About the Author

My name is Bob Vernon. I’m a writer and a world traveler who frequently makes up clever rhymes to amuse my grandchildren and embarrass my grown kids.

Jan, my lovely and remarkably tolerant wife, and I have lived around the United States and even spent four wonderful years living in the Netherlands.

Through our journeys, we’ve seen and experienced many wonderful things. And whenever possible, we’ve tried to include our children and grandchildren in the adventures. In the process, our family has been able to learn about and appreciate many different cultures and the wonderful people we have met along the way. It is our hope that we have instilled that sense of adventure and exploration in the future generations of our family.

For us, this life has truly been a gift. It’s my desire to share that gift through An Iguana Named Lana and future books.

I invite and encourage you to come along and explore the world … if only in your imagination.

Bringing Lana to the Page

It’s a long way from the United States to the Galapagos Islands, but the journey to bringing An Iguana Named Lana to the page might even be longer. After writing the rhyme, I needed a gifted illustrator and a talented graphic designer to complete the book. I was fortunate to have both in my family, and I was even more fortunate for both of them to have traveled to the Galapagos Islands with us.

Robby Cook is my son-in-law. He’s crazy talented as an artist, illustrator, and animator. He has worked on such productions as Castlevania on Netflix, Bless the Harts on Fox, and he’s been busy since its inception with Star Trek: Lower Decks on CBS All Access. He also has been popular at Comic Con events for his fantastic artwork. You can see more of his art here.

Zachary Vernon is the graphic designer for this book. He’s an award-winning designer, and can often be found practicing Tai Chi and teaching the next generation of artists and designers at California State University–Los Angeles (not at the same time). You can learn more about him here.

They are both wildly talented and crazy busy with their own careers, so I am fortunate and blessed to have them on my AdventureRhyme team. Without them, An Iguana Named Lana would still be only an idea rattling around in my head.

I’m excited to turn them loose on producing the next AdventureRhyme book that takes place in a land of fire and ice. Stay tuned!
